How We Can Celebrate World Kindness Day

World Kindness day, which is on November 13, is an international movement aimed at promoting kindness! We define kindness as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. This is a life skill we all possess, and today is a fantastic reminder to share these attributes with others! Kindness is a little thing that can go a long way, and by bringing a smile to someone else's face, we are also helping ourselves.

Here are a few random acts of kindness guaranteed to brighten anyone's day!

  1. Reach out to a friend

  2. Send a kind text to a family member

  3. Let someone know how much they mean to you

  4. Write a note of appreciation

  5. Compliment a stranger

  6. Pay for the person behind you at the drive through

  7. Write positive messages on the sidewalk by your home

  8. Post something uplifting on social media

  9. Patronize a local small business and leave a good review

  10. Bake something for a friend or family member

These are a few small ways we can let those around us know that we care about them. In times like this, and always, it is important that we are spreading positivity and encouragement. You never know how much a small gesture might mean to someone! When we are kind to others, we gain some of the benefits too. Kindness promotes our own wellbeing, improving our mood and self-esteem. Being kind to others can even lessen our own stress levels!

On this World Kindness Day, I would also like to propose that we are kind to ourselves. We may become caught up in out daily activities and forget to take care of ourselves. For World Kindness day, let's remind ourselves to take a moment to do something we enjoy that makes us happy. This can be as simple at saying something affirming about yourself, going for a walk, or watching Netflix. No matter what you are doing, feel free to show yourself a little love today!

A VIEW OF THE “I am broken” By Fermina Ponce
